When the flight attendant brought it to me, I was surprised because the pendant was big! And it was very dark, bloody red compared to the one in the magazine.
I am using Biotherm's Biopur pore reducer line and the smell reminds me of swimming lessons when I was 10. The smell could have been the combination of the sunblock I was using and the chlorine in the pool. Strange but I love that smell.
Saponin water
Zinc and copper
Pure thermal plankton
They're supposed to help reduce oil and minimise the pores. I wonder which of those ingredients give off the scent.
What's so great about the "Great" Singapore Sale?
Or maybe I've just become a true blue recessionista.
I went to Uniqlo and Ikea all right, and did some shopping there (Uniqlo was so bloody far I just had to buy something for my efforts, and there was nothing I liked; the Uniqlo in Tokyo is still the best in terms of choices) and I walked up and down Orchard but ended up with nothing. And what sale are you talking about? It's still bloody expensive, compared to BKK prices. Thanks to globalization, most of the brands are in BKK except Uniqlo, GAP, Ikea and Forever21. I saw something I like in Forever21 but decided to go back for it the next day since the queue was long. But... I totally forgot. Nevermind, I'll live.
I bought this picture book at Bestsellers in Podium the last time I was home
It was MD who recommended it to me and I thought, nice gift idea for my girl-friends.
It features a poem by Bunny Ty and artwork by various artists.
Some Women
By Bunny T
some women color their lips red.
not me, I like to color mine with good words instead.
some women curl their lashes hard.
not me, I want mine soft to catch my tears.
some women need to blush their cheeks pink.
not me, mine blush by themselves when I'm tickled pink.
some women close their eyes to show off their eye shadow.
not me, I want mine to open to see the world.
some women take pains to pretty up their faces.
not me, I would rather take pains in prettying up the world.
some women think I look plain and dull without color on my face.
not me, if you look hard enough, you'll see I am wearing...
a rainbow.

MD and VK said this was proof that I'm an expat.
I don't have the Adidas Philippine flag version. I found mine in Kultura, SM's Filipiniana section. The body is red, the sleeves are blue and the white patch with the three stars are embroidered on the upper back. I find the design better than this, just too lazy to take a photo of it.
There were a lot of Ninoy shirts everywhere. We were looking for it in Bench last September but they have ran out of stock. But now, they're just everywhere and I have outgrown my interest to own one. Just wondering how come it seems it's fashionable these days to wear your "nationalism" on your sleeves. But it's worth a start I guess. Then the rest, hopefully, will follow. Like electing the right leaders in government and making them account for their graft and corruption. Because if we won't love our own country, then who will?
I love Ikea.
I won't get tired walking around the whole day.
There will always be new things to see everytime.
These were my haul when I went to Ikea in KL early this month.
The candelabra was from the first round while the candleholder and organiser were from the second round. Because sometimes it pays to take a second, third, closer look to appreciate the beauty and function of something.
I can't wait to check out Ikea in Singapore in June.
I unwittingly started a new collection two years ago when I went to China.
We were leaving the park at the French Quarter in Shanghai when we passed by a vendor selling curios on the sidewalk. I saw a four-faced Buddha in rosewood and I started to bargain though I wasn't really serious of buying it. I mean, what would I do with a Buddha head, and four faces at that? The man refused to give it at the ridiculously low price I was asking so we started to walk away. Then he called me back, finally agreeing to give it to me at 50 yuan (at that time, worth 200 baht or about $7). I didn't plan to buy it but now was napasubo and as we walked away, I suddenly felt guilty thinking the poor guy didn't earn anything from me.
So it all started with the Shanghai Buddha.
Last year when I went to Ha Noi, I was browsing the shops in the old quarter when I stumbled into an antique shop. My heart skipped when I saw the brass version of my Shanghai Buddha. To make the long story short, I now have a Ha Noi Buddha.
Then late last month, I went with my Asean kumpares to buy pasalubong at the nightmarket. We passed by a stall selling those usual wooden curios when I saw another version of the four-faced Buddha. The vendor apparently has encountered a lot of Filipino tourists that he started salestalking to me in Tagalog: "maganda", "mura", "salamat". That Buddha is the smallest I have in my growing collection.
Looking at the faces, I always keep the laughing one at the front. I'm scared of the angry face, besides, I wouldn't want to leave the flat with that face imprinted on my mind or arrive home with the bulging eyes greeting me back.
