"If humans strive hard, there are so many things possible." -- Tsuru
Fans were not happy with how Proposal Daisakusen ended last year so Fuji TV did a special set a year later.
So here comes the special as a fan service for those who tore at their hair over the ending. It was shot no less than in Hawaii in what was supposed to be the wedding of Tsuru and Eri. The scene where Ken-zou runs through the beach reminds me of the opening scene of Taku's Good Luck (my life is littered with pop culture references, from reel to real). Eri mysteriously disappears from the wedding and Tsuru does not know what happened. So fairy-san appears again and helps Ken go back through time to help his friend resolve things. In the process, he also resolves his and Rei's issues about her being a 'runaway bride'. The scene where he finally visits Rei's parents and apologises to them for what happened was really tear-inducing (but well, I cry easily).
The whole cast is back, including of course Yuta who plays Mikio. He's still cute despite that perm (as Shota, playing Sojiro in Hana Yori Dango said: 'permah?") and Socrates, the all-around cast boy who played Tsuru's 'substitute bride' (that scene was really a laugh-out-loud moment). The special is a standalone itself, one need not have agonised through the 11 episodes of the series. It also comes full circle, starting with that beach scene (I thought that a bride wearing a tux over her gown looked very cool) and ending with another beach scene in Hawaii where Ken finally proposes. I'm sure everyone was able to sleep after watching the credits roll up.

hmm...i've been meaning to watch this. i'm actually in the process of dl-ing it right now. did you like it? doesn't sound like the ending (of the reg) is very satisfying. at least they did a special. ^^
can't wait to watch it tho.
on hindsight, if I knew there was going to be a special, I would have just waited for the special hahaha may mga flashbacks naman sa special. but I guess it's still worth a watch, the series I mean. at least now you don't have to wait for months for the special :)
thanks for the tip.
